DO's & DON'TS

Do This
01
Charge to 80–90% for daily riding
Partial charges are gentler on cells and preserve long-term capacity. Save 100% for days you need max range.
02
Store at 50–60% charge
The ideal resting state for lithium-ion cells during off-seasons or any time you're not riding for a while.
03
Keep temps between 32–77°F
This is the sweet spot for lithium-ion chemistry — both for riding and storage.
04
Charge at room temperature
Charging below freezing can permanently degrade cells. Let a cold battery warm up before plugging in.
05
Use only your manufacturer-approved charger
Your BMS is calibrated to specific charging parameters. Third-party chargers can mess with that — and not in a good way.
06
Inspect connectors and terminals regularly
Off-road riding means vibration, mud, and impacts. Catch loose connections or corrosion before they become a costly problem.
07
Warm up in cold weather before riding hard
Ride gently in Eco mode for 10–15 minutes to build internal heat. Then unleash it.
08
End rides with 10–20% remaining
Plug in with some juice left. Running to zero isn't hardcore — it's just hard on your cells.
🚫 Don't Do This
01
Don't charge to 100% unless riding immediately
Sitting at full charge accelerates electrolyte breakdown. Top it off right before you ride, not the night before.
02
Don't discharge below 10–20%
Deep discharges put serious strain on cells and accelerate capacity loss over time.
03
Don't store fully charged or fully depleted
Either extreme can permanently damage your battery. 50% is the sweet spot for any storage period.
04
Don't charge in extreme heat or freezing temps
Heat above 95°F and cold below 32°F during charging will degrade your cells — sometimes permanently.
05
Don't leave your bike in subfreezing temps
Bring the battery inside overnight. Mount it right before your ride. Simple.
06
Don't leave it charging unattended overnight
Charge it while you're around. Unattended overnight charging is a risk not worth taking — especially with high-voltage packs.
07
Don't ignore early warning signs
Shorter range, slow charging, unexpected shutoffs — if you're seeing these, address them now. Don't wait.
08
Don't pressure wash near the battery or motor
Use a garden hose and soft cloth only. Water intrusion is how you turn a $1,500 battery into a paperweight.
❄️
Off-Season Storage Protocol

Before storing your bike for more than a few weeks: charge to exactly 50–60%, store in a cool dry place between 50–70°F, and check charge monthly — topping back to 50% if it drops below 30%. Never store in a hot garage or shed. Heat is the silent battery killer.

⚠️

Important: These are general best practices for lithium-ion batteries used in electric dirt bikes. Always refer to your specific bike's owner manual for manufacturer charging instructions. Voiding manufacturer guidelines can affect your warranty.
